I'm doing really good but I'm scared

My pulmonologist has yet to say. "You have copd." She put it on my chart explaining that the drug she gave me thinking it was asthma didn't reverse it, so....
I cough up a small amount of phlegm at dinnertime after a day of a runny nose. Other than that, little wheezing at bedtime, nothing a cough won't take care of. I can still walk 3 miles when the weather's good.
I'm wondering how many of you realized this early on and any advice on slowing the progression.
I quit smoking 5 years ago

  1. Hi . Exercise can be incredibly helpful in slowing progression, so it's wonderful that you are already walking three miles a day. Here is an article with some more suggestions: https://copd.net/living/slowing-progression. I hope this helps. Best wishes! - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Hey Katy, as Lori said that's a wonderful article to check out to see if ther'es some ways that yoru progression might be slowed. I also just wanted to rassure you that you are not alone - I know how scary it an be to think you may have something and not have an official diagnosis. It's like something hanging over your head and it makes you nervous and it's difficult to shake that feeling. It sucks for sure! Just wanted to know that you have people like Lori and me and the rest of the team here if you need! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
