how to treat a cold with underlying emphysema

have caught my first cold after being diagnosed with emphysema. Should i get antibiotics?

  1. Hi , while we cannot offer any specific medical advice via the internet (for your safety!) we do have an article that you might find helpful: https://copd.net/basics/conditions/respiratory-conditions. Colds are typically not very harmful but left untreated can sometimes lead to COPD exacerbations so it definitely is a good idea to loop your doctor in to see what they link! All the best, Sam S. 1. Thank you.

      1. Hi nsbulette, and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having joined just 2 days ago. We are glad to see you already engaging with the community through these, your first two posts. As my good colleague, , has said, it is always a good idea to check in with one's doctor for these types of concerns. The doctor knows your specific level of disease best, an will be able to guide you safely, should you develop another illness in conjunction with COPD.
What do you think? Did you have an opportunity to discuss your recent cold with him?
Please do let us hear back from you, we have a genuine concern for your good health.
        Wishing you well,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
