Haven't had an appetite and when I do eat it bloating me. I forced myself to eat a bigger meal a few days ago and couldn't breath at all. And my stomach blew up like a balloon.
Hi. Welcome to our COPD community. You are not alone here having experienced lack of appetite and bloating when you do eat. Plus, eating large meals can bloat your stomach, forcing it to take up space in your chest making it so your lungs have less room to expand, thereby causing shortness of breath. That is why many COPD experts recommend eating smaller meals more frequently, as opposed to larger meals a few times a day. To learn more, you may be interested in the following post I wrote (https://copd.net/living/nutrition-discussion) that I wrote a few years ago. And here (https://copd.net/living/diet-with-exercise). Also, it may also be beneficial to you to talk to your doctor about seeing a dietitian or nutritionist. They can help you find a diet that works best for you. What do you think?
