Sorry to hear of having a flare up during a cruise. Not the way one would want to spend time that was supposed to be fun and relaxing. My best advice is to listen to what the pulmonologist tells you after getting your test results. If you only have a GP doctor and not a specialist, then insist on getting a referral to see a pulmonologist. The only other advice I can give you at this point is to figure out what caused the flare up in the first place. Was it the temperature and humidity? Was it smells from cooking, cleaning, or fragrances? Was it air pollution of some sort? Was it a virus (such as a cold, flu, pneumonia, Covid, etc.)? Once you figure out what irritates your condition, then do your best to avoid such exposure. I would stay away from large groups of people at all costs. That is a major cause of flare ups. People are carriers of viruses and bacteria that they can tolerate and people with COPD cannot. I cannot take hot and humid, cleaning supplies smells, heavy perfume smells, dust, pollen, animal dander, to name a few. Also learn pursed lip and huff cough breathing. That helps a bunch when having a flare up. Take care and God Bless!
