Breath easily but how?

Gradual worsening of breathing follow many trips to the Philippines ever since volcano activities. I always return home Downunder with chest infections and that affects the flare ups: this two week flare up helped with Amoxicillin and Prednisone combination is out of control I feel. The associated Cough to move liquid from the lungs is weakening the upper respiratory area. It’s hard to find a lung specialist locally they are all under the pump with two year waiting lists. So avoiding infections seems paramount to survival as I see it. No more international flights either. I am now 73 yrs and although I have taken Pneumonia preventative medicine in the past 10 years… I feel lost guys… where bDo I go from this point anyone? Shakey from Nsw Australia. Not the best pic I ever took sorry..

  1. Hi . My heart goes out to you. It can be a difficult adjustment when physical issues force that kind of change. I hope others can offer some good insight and that you eventually find new adventures that don't compromise your health. Have you been to the ER with this flare? If it fails to improve or gets worse, that might be your best bet. They might get you access to a pulmonologist sooner. Please keep us posted so we know how you are doing. We are here for you. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)

    1. I wonder if, the next time you get to see a doctor, you can come up with a plan for how you manage before and during these trips. It may be possible for them to change your medication routine or make other recommendations to help you avoid a flare. Do you wear a face mask when you travel? That might help, too -- you can still use oxygen with it if that's a concern. I hope that you can find a solution and that you can continue to travel more in the future. Take good care of yourself in those cold weather months down there! -Melissa, team member
