What do you do in the mornings

The mornings are so hard for me. I have trouble getting out of bed now for the past two days I have been vomiting a lot of mucus. Does this happen to anyone

  1. ,
Sorry to hear of your morning problems. The first thing I would do, would be call my medical team. I am sure they would like to help your situation. Do you sleep flat, or do you raise your upper body with a wedge or have a bed that inclines? I wonder if your mucus drains while you sleep is getting stuck in your throat causing a vomiting reaction.
Do you do any breathing exercises or use a flutter valve machine to help break up and expel mucus? This sounds pretty miserable, and I would call your doctor. Take care and God Bless.

    1. This was one of the first big problems I had to overcome. I was constantly coughing my brains out trying to clear it out but could not keep up. So, while I was in rehab, the RT got the doctor to put me on 1200mg extended release Mucinex twice daily. It has worked great since (for two years + now), and I don't worry much about it most of the time now. I get the Curist brand of it from Amazon Prime at literally half the price. I buy the 150 count bottle. Same stuff - Guaifenesin.
Interesting how different things work for some folks. I can only sleep on my stomach, as I cannot breathe lying on my back. I use a big pillow, and I also have an NIV machine (Non-Invasive Ventilator), which is like an advanced version of a Bi-Pap. I can't use it all night, but for periods of an hour or two. It helps expel the C02 from my lungs to allow more room for 02. Medicare provided it, along with the RT that comes with it. We need our sleep, and anything that helps that helps our health!

    2. thanks so much for this info. I’m going to mention it to my doctor. Be well

  2. I don’t do much at all I guess just sleeping all night makes my lungs rest I’m not sure I’m waiting to see my doctor on Wednesday

    1. I take 2 Mucinex at night or if I wake up in the middle of the night I take 2 more.

      1. Hi again, Lizard. From both this, and your earlier post, it sounds like you find Mucinex helps you to manage the congestion that may be associated with this disease (COPD). Is there anything further you can share with the community at this time?
