Trimbow

Hi, I’m new here.
Diagnosed in 2006. My pulmonary nurse put me on a new inhaler Trimbow 10. days ago.
I have been experiencing a sore throat, it hurts to drink, chest pain, constantly burping, feel boiling hot, coughing and constipation. Thrush in my mouth and I’ve vomited once.
Are these symptoms side affects if Brimbow. Should I stop using it.
Thank you in advance.

I cannot speak to the side effects of Trimbow. I have never used it. First thing I would do is contact your medical team and explain your side effects. If you are having thrush (I have had it as a result of using Trelegy), a warm salt water rinse and gargle three times a day will take care of that. The other symptoms, coughing, constipation, feeling hot, and vomiting, I have not experienced with any inhaler I have used. Like I said, warm salt water rinse 3 times a day will get rid of the thrush. Please contact your medical team and let them know the situation. An inhaler is supposed to help you, not make you more miserable. Take care and God Bless!

    1. Thank you I will try that and speak to my nurse on Monday.

One other thing you should do is rinse and gargle after using your Trimbow or any inhaler that contains a corticosteroid. My pulmonologist told me that when I started on Symbicort 4 years ago. I would do my two inhales in the morning, then rinse and gargle 3 times and brush my teeth. I would do the same in the evening. I never had a problem with thrush. But when I tried Trelegy (a powder inhaler as opposed to an aerosol), I got thrush no matter how much I rinsed or brushed my teeth. I don't know if your medical team told you that. Also I don't know if Trimbow is a powder or an aerosol inhaler. It made a difference for me. I should have mentioned that in my earlier response. Take care and God Bless!

    1. Hi, Thanks for the info. Trimbow is a powder inhaler, contains corticosteroids. My lung nurse just said we want to change your inhaler because I was really struggling with my breathing, I ended up in hospital. Nurse didn’t tell me much about it other than showing me how to use it. This all started about 5 days ago with a little bit of heartburn and has got worse. I’ll be ringing my gp tomorrow to get an appointment. Have a blessed day

      1. Please let us know how it goes and what they say! We can provide as much or as little information as you may need on COPD. Keep on keepin' on, DPM

If you are not rinsing and gargling after using your powder Trimbow inhaler, then you are most likely swallowing the left over corticosteriod. My pulmonologist told me when I rinse and gargle to make sure not to swallow. You have to spit out the rinsing water, otherwise you will get sick from the swallowed corticosteriod. This is most likely why you are feeling sick after using it. I am NOT a doctor, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I am just speaking from what I was told. Please post what your medical team tells you, I am interested in hearing what they say. Take care and God Bless!
