Oxygen

Is there a possibility to get off of oxygen once you are on it?

  1. Hi . That is a great question. Some members here have been on oxygen temporarily, usually because the need was driven by a flare rather than progression. It's also possible to improve lung effeciency with exercise. I am no medical expert though. Hopefully, others will chime in here with their own experiences. Are you on oxygen now? If so, have long have you needed it? Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. I've been on oxygen 1 year mainly night but on exertion through the day .I do work PT but can't take my 02 to work it's a job that is sedentary but not sit down and with the public .

      1. I'm not sure if you know about them but there is something called a portable oxygen concentrator that you can bring with you that is less cumbersome than an O2 tank. Here is an article talking a little about it if it helps: https://copd.net/living/oxygen-with-travel Let us know if there's anything else you need in terms of info! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    2. Oh yes I have a portable concentrator and use it while walking and it's on a rolling cart as the weight maybe 5 or a little more pounds is to heavy for me to carry in the back pack so the cart works well.

      1. I am glad to hear you found a way to make it work, . Thanks for joining the conversation. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)
