My COPD

I'm 52 male I have had COPD since 2005 from welding I don't smoke but now I have pulmonary fibrosis I have been on a ventilator 30x and the last time I was on it for a month now I think I have PTSD of hospitals and afraid to go in but I have the worst breathing problems all the time. The steroids are the worst 350mg of solumedrol tapered lmao what a nightmare.. anyway i want my kids and grandkids in my life.
Are there others out there going through this?

  1. My heart goes out to you, . I can't imagine being on a ventilator that often or for that long. I can see why you have PTSD. Given that you are so young, are you a candidate for a lung transplant or will you be a candidate eventually?
I hope others chime in here with their experiences or even just to offer support. Please know that we are here for you whenever you need us. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Truck semi mechanic and welder for close to 45 years. I feel your pain. first it was stage three and then the stemi heart attack. I was still working at least 70 hours a week being self employed. Had a meeting with all the doctors. Was told the diesel exhaust gas along with welding will kill you faster that smoking 5 packs a day. Had to close the business down. As we speak, i am trying to sell all my miller machines. A tough market to say the least.

      1. I don't' have COPD but I have been on my own chronic illness journey for decades and it has taken no less then five careers from me and countless hobbies and relationships, so I get it. It is frustrating, heartbreaking, and certainly financially precarious at best. Hopefully you can find something that strikes your fancy after all of this part is taken care of but either way, you are not alone. Keep on keepin' on, DPM
