Intercostal Neuralgia

I've been having a problem with intercostal nerve pain and it can be excruciating. Has anyone else had this and what can you do for it?

  1. Hi . I am replying here in hopes of bumping your post up a bit. We have lots of posts and comments from people suffering from cramping and other rib muscle pains, but I wasn't able to find anything about nerve pain. Hopefully, someone who shares your experience will see this and reach out. What has your doctor said? Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Hey Lori, the intercostal nerves come out of the spine in the thoracic region, coming around to the chest, upper abdomen. I don't even recall the name of the e procedure, but I've had a tube put in through my ribcage to drain fluid from around my right lung. Had this done twice actually, and if they bump that nerve, it's excruciating. But, I think what is irritating these nerves is my cough. My wife puts the TENS pads exactly where they need to be, and it helps so much. No pills, no drugs, happy with that.

      1. My heart goes out to you, . I have nerve pain in my foot from a botched surgery. I can't imagine having nerve pain that gets aggravated with a cough, especially for someone with COPD. I hope someone in this community can offer experiences of their own that help. - Lori (Team Member)
