COPD inhaler

Hi I was recently diagnosed with COPD and I am having problems with inhaler side effects particularly stomach and back pain . I was wondering if anyone could advise me on this please.

  1. ,
You need to talk to your doctor, or whomever prescribed the inhaler. What inhaler are you using? Any inhaler with corticosteriod in it (ex. Trelegy, Symbicort, etc. ) needs to have a mouth rinse and gargle after each use. Otherwise you are swallowing the corticosteriods and that can cause gastrointestinal issues. As far as a back pain from an inhaler, I have never heard of that side effect before. Please contact your medical provider. They can help you a lot more than I can for sure. Take care and God Bless!

    1. Thanks very much for your comments. I have appointment with my GP next week

      1. Hi . Keep us posted if you don't mind. I'm curious as to whether the back pain stems from the inhaler use. I hope you get the side effect issues resolved. Have you tried messaging your doctor for a more immediate response? I hate to think of you suffering those side effects for another week while you wait for an appointment. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. Hi i have back pain for years i just thought maybe the inhaler was making it worse.
I am seeing the doctor on Monday so maybe they can help. Thanks very much for your comments it's really nice of you.

    3. Hi Melissa. I think the doctor is doing her best, she said all the inhalers have side effects like any drugs. This is the third inhaler she has prescribed and they all have side effects. I have ongoing problems with back and stomach pain and I think all the inhalers make these problems worse. I think I'll have to live with it. Thanks very much for your concern it's very good of you.

      1. That's a bummer. Happy to check in -- a big part of why we're here is to support each other. I hope you have some tools at home to at least take the edge off the pain. -Melissa, team member
