Recently Diagnosed with COPD

Hi I have recently been diagnosed with COPD and I am feeling a bit alone and would love to hear from others that are feeling this way or have in the past.

I am 42 working 15 hours a week but I have had to take time off due to a viral infection that triggered the COPD..

Hi, MLB76SO I was diagnosed about a year and a half ago, although I had symptoms for years. Anyway, I also felt very alone after coming out of a funk and being angry about my diagnosis and then blaming myself for being a smoker. (I have been smoke free for just over two years now.). I am glad that I found <a href='https://copd.net' target='_blank'>copd.net</a>. There are many kind and helpful people here. I am also looking into pulmonary rehab in my area, which would bring me into real time contact with other COPD ers. If you need to converse or sound off, feel free to send me a message. Living with a scary disease is a very lonely place to be. This is a support group so feel free to post as long as you need to. There is nothing worse than having no one to talk to about how you are feeling. I have COPD and I am not receiving treatment. Left alone till I am so ill I have to go in to hospital. Our Health Service here in the U.K. don't have the funds to give us good healthcare. I was taken to hospital and doubled up with pneumonia and couldn't breathe and then diagnosed with COPD. I was then discharged from hospital as they needed the bed for someone else. One time discharged at 3a.m. then go in the morning to collect some meds. So Yes this is a very lonely place to be. It is the support groups that are going to lift us up and carry us through so don't struggle on your own. I wish you a speedy recovery from your viral infection and hope that you begin to feel better as you find you have friends here on this site to support you.
