Newbie

Well, 2020 has been quite a year. Not only was I diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both knees - very painful- but COPD. Like others, I was totally surprised. After quitting in 2013, I thought I had escaped unscathed!

Managing my symptoms

I bought a small air purifier to sit on my dresser. I had NEVER found myself coughing up so much of this weird mucus! Doctors finally sent me to an allergist, who prescribed Trelegy. It helped me a lot. Still had this mucus discharge, only at night.

I decided to get a new filter for this air purifier that did not work. I'll be darned, the plastic was still around the inside filter!!! I took it off, the weird white mucus went away. I still had bronchitis tho, mostly during the day. I haven't been the same since the dusty air filter.

My husband is living with COPD, too

My husband has had emphysema since around 2010. It's another story of its own. He gave me info to subscribe to this group. That guy..... what a miracle! He was really sick a few years back, but kept walking. He walks every day. His oxygen level is still around 96 while sitting. His doctor has refused to give him supplemental oxygen! It's the best decision that could have been made.

Walking and exercising to help

I see mention of supplemental oxygen here constantly! Doesn't anyone exercise or walk?? Walking has extended his life by years! Please tell, has anyone used walking instead of going to the oxygen tanks right away?
