What are some different medications (herbal or other) that can help clear the lungs.

I have seen and listened to Dr Oz, Dr Brenda, and countless others about herbal medication that helps COPD. Is there proof that this stuff actually works? I would really like to get that stuck mucus out so that I can breathe better. I've heard tales that COPD is not a death sentence anymore. Show me!

  1. dr oz is a charleton. I would not take his word for anything!

  2. Hi . I'm glad you are seeking out information before buying or taking anything new. Herbal compounds and supplements are not controlled by the FDA, so it's really important to understand the potential side effects, to talk with your doctor before taking anything new and to find a manufacturer that uses third-party testing. Here is an article about some natural treatments for COPD symptoms that you might find interesting: https://copd.net/treatment/natural-remedies-overview.
COPD most definitely is not a death sentence. Every journey is unique, but most people can live full lives with COPD for a long time, though their definitions of "full" might have to change. The reality is that most will die of something else before their COPD progresses to the final stage. Here is a wonderful forum post from a member who was diagnosed in 1977: https://copd.net/forums/life-expectancy-2. Here is another article from one of our health leaders who was diagnosed in the late 1980s: https://copd.net/living/terminal. I hope these articles help and that you are with us for a very long time to come.

  3. I personally believe i'm receiving the best care. First and foremost there's no cure. I have no regrets in life. My life has been a lesson of good and bad and believe me you more good than bad. I did everything I've set my heart and mind and achieve what I wanted to learn. My life has been a great journey. No Regrets! Always smiling

    1. I hope others feel like you do. Regret can be so emotionally and physically depleting and, after expending all that energy, we still can't change the past. I'm glad you have confidence in your doctors and in your treatment plan. There is no cure, but there are lots of ways to slow progression and continue to live fully. It's good to see you're doing that. Warmly, Lori (Team Member)
