Voice loss

Anyone have issues with voice changing or loss. I live to sing in the shower or just anywhere. Not that I can cause I sound awful to my self but I never cared cause I love my music but the I started to lose my voice I will be talking or tryn to sing and it like I don't have the breath to push it out my voice will just stop mid sentence. And just try to raise your voice or argue with sum one voice gone that makes me mad anyone else have this issue. Again thanks you all

  1. Hi . Voice loss isn't usually a symptom or effect of COPD, so there might be something else going on. Do you think you might be battling an infection? Have you messaged your doctor? You are not alone though. Here is a forum post from someone else who had the same question: https://copd.net/forums/voice-loss. Keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. Hey there! You have really been through a lot. You have my respect for trying to take care of yourself and learn more now. It's never too late to do that!

Yes, we are real ... 😀 We come from all backgrounds. Not all of us have COPD bit most of us love someone with a chronic illness and we are glad to listen whenever you need us.

Back to the voice problem ... this can happen with inhalers like you saw ... there is also a separate issue called vocal cord dysfunction (VCD). We have a few articles about voice issues on our sister site, asthma.net:

I hope these are helpful and give you some questions to ask your doctor if you want to investigate. Have you ever had a Pulmonary Function Test to see how well your lungs are working?

Keep doing the best you can! We have your back. -Melissa, team member

  2. Singing is perhaps the best lung exercise that you can do yourself without adding medications. That is what my doctors have told me, all 3 of them. I sing as much and as often as I can, and care little for what anyone may think or say. To date, no one has logged a complaint, but the moment they do, I will offer to trade places with them. Those who react negatively towards your attempts to help yourself, and stay in the game, need to simply step into traffic for a while and play dodge cars. Keep them busy with far more productive, and less opinionated pastimes, maybe. They have no idea what we go through. Keep singing and pay those with opinions little mind.
Best wishes, keep yer stick on the ice.

    1. Hi member bf2879. I am the same as you. I love to sing, or at least try 😉 But since this heatwave, I have been losing my voice too. I have a few "fluffy weeds" at the back of the garden. I ventured to the back of the garden a few days ago, and boy, did I suffer. I had a sore throat for several days, partially lost my voice, and felt unwell.
Perhaps we can start our little group called "The Croakers" 😀
      Stay well, my friend.
