Voice loss

does anyone know if losing your voice on a regular basis is caused by copd

  1. Hi Nikki, and thanks for your post and question - it's a good one! I know we've had conversations here in the past, and we're glad to see you continuing to participate here in the community.
Generally speaking, the disease, COPD, is not responsible for the loss of one's voice. There can be any number of medical conditions or circumstances alone, that may result in the (temporary) loss of one's voice.
However, if this is a condition that is occurring (as you say), on a regular basis, you may want to address this very real concern with your physician. If the condition has persisted for a lengthy period of time, or worsened even, you may also want to seek out a specialist, like an ENT (ear, nose & throat) doctor or, an allergist.
    What do you think?

    1. Thank you for your reply I will do what you just sent and fingers crossed my wife’s doctor will be able to give her some specialist advice

      1. hi Nikki, I lose my voice if I don't rinse and gargle after using my inhallers.my voice will also get raspy at times. Got thrush a couple times too behind not rinsing my mouth out good after using inhalers, so now I'm sure to rinse. Hope this helps.

        1. Hello ! This is something I have as well. I blame it on some of the inhaled meds we use and also if I have been out in the fresh air for a bit or have talked quite a bit. Usually, I start with a raspy voice that goes to a lost voice, but not for very long. I will usually gargle with salt water, have tea with lemon and honey, and drink plenty of water and it usually will come back pretty quick from this. Like mentioned though, I would see your doctor if this persists or isn't normal for you. Best, Jackie (Moderator)

          1. Hi Jackie, and thanks for the 'shout out' - I appreciate it!
Hi again - I see there have been a number of replies to your inquiry about regularly losing your voice here. I do hope you've had an opportunity to look them over.
What do you think at this point?
            Warm regards,
