,
I feel your pain Marley. I am advanced stage 2, working on trying to avoid stage 3 and have the most sensitive sense of smell of anyone I have ever met. I do most of the cooking during the week and keep smells down to almost nothing. On weekends, my wife makes stuff with the worst smells for me ever. She knows it irritates me and she does it anyway. Garlic, onions, Italian sausage, bacon, etc. really get to me. Even though she puts the stove ventilator on high, the smells still get to me. All I can do to keep the peace is I bought a large high dollar air purifier with a HEPA and charcoal filter combo to take away smells. I turn it on "Turbo" mode when she cooks and it takes the smell away within 30 minutes. She does not like the bland diet I have to eat because of my Hiatal Hernia and my COPD. So she cooks her spicy stuff on Sundays for her lunch meals for the week. So I only have to tolerate the smells one day a week. I guess I cannot expect her to eat my bland diet all the time when she prefers spicy stuff I cannot eat. The air purifier makes the compromise work. It is a beast of a purifier and worth every penny. I keep the purifier within a few feet of me so I get the cleanest air possible all the time. That is my only suggestion. Take care and God Bless!
