We were having a discussion here in the community recently about how a healthcare advocate (also called a patient advocate) can be a great resource for navigating the healthcare system, insurance, and more. I wanted to share a few resources I found for those who may be interested in working with an advocate for their own needs. We don't endorse any particular organizations or individuals, this is just to give you a sense of what's out there.
Medicare & Medicaid Patient Advocate Resources:
https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights/help/guides/patient-advocate
The Patient Advocate Foundation: www.patientadvocate.org
National Association of Healthcare Advocacy (NAHAC) Directory:
https://nahac.com/directory-of-advocates#!directory
Greater National Advocates (GNA) Directory: https://gnanow.org/
I hope this helps! Let us know if you decide to use any of these resources and how it goes. We can all learn from one another.
Take good care of yourself,
