Need some tips for managing at home

Hi all 😊 I was recently diagnosed with the chronic bronchitis part of COPD and it’s hit so hard so quick! I’m exhausted after doing little things and small tasks are almost impossible. My husband doesn’t know how to cook so I have to cook for him and I just can’t at times . I also am unable to cook for myself as well and he can’t help with that either so I go without food . I’m so frustrated with all of it! My cough won’t go away even with all of the cough meds and I’m just going nuts on how to stop it ! I see my pulmonologist the 26th . I don’t know what I need since some people need dehumidifiers , some steam vaporizers and some cool humidifiers. Can anyone help me out ? Thanks in advance!

  1. My heart goes to you, . What a difficult situation. might have some insight when it comes to the cough. Do keep in mind though that we are medical experts. Have you tried emailing your question about humidity versus dryness to your doctor's nurse? You might get an answer before your appointment that way.
You have to eat if you want to recover. That is not negotiable. Do you like soups and stews? Can your husband at least heat those up for you? How about sandwiches? Could he handle microwave meals from the grocery store? You might get bored eating the same foods every day, but, hopefully, it will only be for a while. Those are also foods you might be able to make yourself when you have some energy.
Are there friends or family who might also be willing to help by dropping off a meal now and then? Do you belong to a church or other organization that might be willing to create a meal train? It can be hard to ask, I know, but you really need the help right now.
I hope this helps and that others chime in with suggestions. Please keep us posted. I'll be thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
