Flare-ups

What happens when you have a flare up? I'm not sure if I'm having one or not. Every time I ask me doctor about them he say I'm not, maybe not not, explaining it right.

  1. ,
When I have a flare up, this is what happens to me. I have way more mucus production to cough out. I have increased coughing. I have a harder time breathing. My chest aches from extra coughing. I have less good sleep. I have way less energy and feel fatigued all the time. It is like having a bad flu or cold for me. Your symptoms might be a little different. I think the main thing for me is having such a hard time catching my breathe and breathing easier. What symptoms are you having that you equate with a possible flare up? Is your doctor a GP or a pulmonologist? Not all flare ups have the same symptoms for every individual. I am interested in knowing the outcome to this. Take care and God Bless!

Thank you so much for sharing your feelings and thoughts. When I don't have a good night's sleep, I have a really hard time breathing and just feel really bad all day. I have an appointment with my doctor this week. Thanks again and breath easy.
      God bless and be safe

      1. Hi, Mae. How did it go at your doctor appointment? Do you feel like you got any answers?

Flare-ups or exacerbations are one of the most common topics around here. Just about everyone experiences it at some point. We have a lot of articles about it, so I'm going to share a few that try to answer the "how can you tell?" question.

Please don't feel like you need to read all of these right away (or ever!). Feel free to take what works for you and ask us as many questions as you'd like. We're here to help and hopefully this can guide your conversations with your doctor in the future, too.
