I dwell on relaxing and taking in slow deep breathes. It’s always scary.

Having a flare up and this is day 6. Hopefully been through the worst now. My advice is to do exactly what you need to do to 1 get thru it. 2 get better Flare ups are a reality for me, I accept it knocks me back and I prepare for next time. Best wishes

I never know if I'm suffering a flare up or simply being effected by different weather conditions.

Same happens to me! If the weather changes, I sometimes get what feels like an exacerbation. Knocks me back for a few days. I always get a little anxious, as I waited too long a few times, and it was a real exacerbation, & I ended up in Hospital. I have to be careful.

Great question. exacerbations and flare-ups are two different terms for the same thing. For a good description and definition of them, please refer to this post (https://copd.net/living/flare-ups). I think you will find it very helpful for you. John. community moderator.
