Change what you need to change;

COPD stage 4 dealing with the disease much longer than when diagnosed in the year 2011. I finally decided that I was no going to drive anymore for personal reasons like safety, psychological torment and distress like: is there going to be enough oxygen to complete this 120 mile round trip?
Probably not if you are delayed in traffic due to your car trouble or a backup on the highway for any reason.

  1. That was probably a very wise decision, , even though I'm sure it was hard to give up that freedom. Do you have people who are willing to drive you places when you need them or do you have good public transportation? Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. No I do not have travel support. Small town with local transportation in a
      small bus that runs between towns so the oxygen concern is the same. I am alone as my wife died 26 October, 2025. I do not leave my home and I really have no desire to.
      Thank you your comment.

    2. Hi . I am so very sorry for the loss of your wife. How heartbreaking.
      Since you don't want to leave home, have you considered palliative care? Palliative care is often misunderstood as a service for people who are dying, but it's not. People use it in all stages of illnesses and even alongside other curative care.
      The beauty of it for someone like you is that the palliative team will try to relieve stress by scheduling virtual doctor appointments or having a nurse or nurse practitioner come to your home. The whole idea is to improve your quality of life. It's usually covered by insurance with a doctor's referral.
      I realize that doesn't solve all your transportation issues, but it can eliminate some of your trips to the doctor. Thinking of you. - Lori (Team Member)
