What are you thankful for this year?

We know living with COPD is hard, but is there something you are thankful for? Share it with us!

  1. ,
I am thankful for a lot of things. I am still alive. I am thankful that my wife has recovered from her car accident last year and her two surgeries because of it. I am thankful for my medical team, they are truly the best I have ever had. I am thankful for my two grandsons who come to visit every week and play video games with me. I am thankful for the lawyers who negotiated a very good settlement from my wife's traffic accident last year, which we should get here in a few weeks. I am thankful for my medical team trying me on Dupixent. It truly really helps my breathing. After 3 injections, the difference in my breathing is amazingly much better. They are going to do all the paperwork to get me into the program for a big discount in keeping to use it. Otherwise, I was told I would continue to get samples to use. I am thankful for this website. It gives me something to look forward to daily and has made me several new friends. Those are the highlights. There are a lot of other things to be thankful for, but they are to many to list. Take care all and God Bless!

    1. I truly hope the two of you and your family can enjoy some well-earned peace and relaxation now after the roller coaster you've been on together lately. Glad we made your list -- and very happy you stick around to be a friend to others here. Happy Thanksgiving!! 😀 -Melissa, team member

  2. I also have much to be thankful for. Trying to visit Colorado, where most of my family lives, turned out to be a nightmare because of the high altitude. So, we'll all be taking a cruise in March, and if well enough, most of the family will meet up in dollywood [we're 4 hours away] in June. what has bothered me most about my diagnosis is worry about my 32 year old disabled son. Because of his disability my son has never worked, driven a car, etc. he has nearly constant painful seizures. that has caused him extreme depression and nothing seemed to help. About 10 months ago, he started a treatment for unresponsive depression, called spravato. it is actually a hallucinogenic that is administerred in a hospital setting once a week. it slowly has helped the depression BUT his seizures are almost completely gone! We aare helping him to plan a future that we thought would be impossible. A true miracle. i'm thankful I have discovered the power of exercise. I had worked out most of my life but quit when I was sick but not aware of what was wrong. Forcing myself to work out has helped so much!
We're lower income, but not enough to get any assistance. My husband and son both have very expensive meds and, though I have medicare, the $168 a month for brextri, on top of everything else, was making budgeting impossible. BUT my doctor, when she found out what we were paying started giving us enough samples that we no longer-at least for now- no longer have to pay that.
My hair has thinned so much, but I have found the wonder of wigs! I feel like a kid deciding which one to wear. It's so fun!
No kids, grandkids or great grandkids on drugs [anymore] going through a divorce, unable to pay their bills, etc. I know that bad stuff happens but everyone is doing so good [all 28 of them] right now. such a blessing.
I was terrified about how I was possibly going to be able to do Thanksgiving this year but I now have 2 helpers who will do most of the work. I am so blessed.

    1. What a wonderful year it has been, , especially for your son. I hope that with the seizures and depression under control, he is finally able to live a full life. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with the people you love. Wishing you the very best. - Lori (Team Member)

  3. To still be alive

    1. Yes! My mom often says that every day you wake up and put your feet on the floor is a good day, and I have taken that to heart. Thank you for being here with us! -Melissa, team member

  4. That we can afford my medication as we have no medical aid and our Government Hospitals can't assist with the tests. Living in South Africa we don't have Thanksgiving but I will remember to say thanks.
