Using oxygen

When at home I am on constant flow oxygen. 3 or 4
When we go out I have both portable and the small cans furnished by the main company that does the constant flow
My concern is the portable is a puffer and is it supplying adequate oxygen to the body
Anyone have any knowledge on this subject

  1. Hi. You raise an excellent question, and I'm glad you brought it up here as it's something others may wonder about too. Most portable oxygen concentrators are pulse flow devices, meaning they deliver oxygen only when you inhale. This design helps conserve oxygen and extend battery life, allowing you to be out and about for longer periods.

Pulse flow devices are generally tested and proven to maintain safe oxygen levels comparable to continuous flow systems, but without the wastage. To ensure your oxygen levels are staying in the safe range with your portable device, you can use a pulse oximeter. Do you have one? This handy device checks your oxygen levels and costs as little as $20 online. I generally recommend these for anyone who has oxygen at home.

Alternatively, you can visit your doctor's office and have a nurse check your oxygen levels for you, often without needing an appointment. It's always a good idea to monitor your levels and consult with your healthcare provider to ensure your portable device meets your needs. I hope this brief response helps. What do you think?
