Ohtuvayre medication

I was just prescribed this and im wondering how the side effects are and if your insurance covered it. I'm end stage and on oxygen most of the day now and already use Brezstri and a rescue inhaler, I was recently put on heart medication to lower my heartrate because prednisone gives me tachacardia. So many meds nowadays.
If anyone has any advise on how to give up these last 5 cigarettes a day i would be very greatful.

  1. Hi . Ohtuvayre is such a new drug that we don't have a lot of feedback on it yet. Here is a forum post though from someone who is using it: https://copd.net/forums/improvement. Hopefully, you'll get more input from others in the community.
Smoking is such a powerful addiction. I can see why you are having trouble. Here is an article with some tips and treatments for quitting: https://copd.net/pulmonary-rehab/lifestyle/quitting-smoking. I hope something in the article helps and that you are able to quit. If you struggle though, try again. Many people have to try multiple times before they succeed.

    1. I am not sure there is a magic bullet to stop any addiction. It is not willpower, or substitutes, or meetings. If I could place a single thing on curbing addictions, it would be a powerful desire. I quit drinking and using drugs 30 years ago, not so much for any reason other than a desire to watch my children grow up and my being there for them. When I collapsed 3 years ago from a lung failure due to pneumonia and unknown COPD symptoms, I stopped smoking on the spot. Again, the desire to live made it something manageable to do. Sure, I still throw on a nicotine patch from time to time, and there is a desire to have =JUST ONE cigarette. And then my desire to not die kicks in and overrules everything. The old saying of "You have to want it" is so true with things that we choose to do. Best wishes.
