Living in certain climates

Any suggestions on the best climates to live in when dealing with COPD? I'm in the northeast and think it's to isolating due to the cold weather most of the time.

I feel the same way your do, except it is extreme temps the other way. Living in south central Texas, it is too hot to be out almost 3/4 of the year. I lived in San Diego for 5 years(before COPD diagnosis), and would say the weather there would be perfect for COPD sufferers. Daily highs are around mid 70's to low 80's, with cool breezes and salt air coming off the Pacific Ocean. Not too hot or too cold, unless you lived in an inner valley. Then it can get hot in the summer pretty cold in the winter. Not to mention the fire risk. I loved living there though, just couldn't afford to stay. There are days here in Texas that I definitely wish I was back in San Diego. Such is life. Take care and God Bless!

    1. I get that - I am in New York and while I do like the cold, it can certainly get too cold in the Winter and then in the Summer, the air conditioner makes it too cold at night and bam! Flare up! It is a frustrating tightrope to walk! You are not alone. Keep on keepin' on, DPM

The heat wave starts today for South Central Texas. Temps for the rest of this week are: 102 today, 104 tomorrow, 103 Thursday, 100 Fri & Sat. That is not taking into account humidity, which would make the heat index a bit higher. I will be staying indoors in the A/C. I keep our A/C at 76 and humidity at 45%. This is pretty much the wheelhouse for my lungs. I will only go outside (take out the trash, get the mail, etc.) before 11 in the morning or after sundown in the evening. And even then for only a short time. Hopefully it will cool down a little in the future weeks. Looking like it is going to be a long, hot summer. Take care and God Bless!
