What brings you to our community?

Tell us: What information about COPD are you looking for?

  1. Symptoms. As this progresses, some symptoms will increase in severity, I would assume, or new ones may introduce themselves, while those that are familiar, and dealt with from routine may diminish. Symptoms are some scary things, and as I travel down this road, I find it a little more disconcerting to react to unknowns. Is it normal? Is it something I must now know how to change my behavior? Alter treatments? Head to the emergency room? There is a ton of information contained in here, and it helps, but it is not always easy to find and associate with a current issue I may be experiencing.
This is a roller coaster, and I can not get off. Information can be reassuring when questions emerge, so actions can be taken with some degree of confidence.

    1. Well, we could give you a list of symptoms, but I'm not sure how helpful that would be since everyone is unique, and there are also other conditions, like problems with the esophagus, that can be COPD related but wouldn't necessarily be on "the list."

So, keeping in mind that we can't give medical advice, what symptoms are you having? Is there anything specific that confuses or worries you? Maybe we have an article we can share. -Melissa, team member

    2. - It is more a rhetorical series of questions than an actual search for information. I was expressing that as we move through life with this, we start to ask, solve, and take actions as we learn to handle issues. They progress, so we must also keep a loose handle on this, or it can spin out of control. This network has a lot to offer and has helped immensely so far. More often than not, just ask. The answers are out there, and this community is happy to share.

  2. When I was first diagnosed with COPD almost 5 years ago now, I was looking for everything I could learn about COPD and also see how others were handling it. I found everything I needed right here. I made a point of telling my doctor about joining this forum and he said it was a good thing for me to get involved with others having COPD. So, here I am. This site has helped me a lot to deal with all aspects of COPD and I am thankful for all who post here and for the Admins who keep this site going. Thanks all!

You have given so much back to this community, far more than you have received, I'm sure. It is people like you who make it the welcoming and supportive place that it is. I hope you always stay with us. - Lori (Team Member)
