Humidifier

My husband was diagnosed 8 years ago with COPD and it wasn’t a big problem unless he had a chest infection or sudden change of temperature. The last 6 months he has had a big decline. What do I need to change in the house to improve the air flow? Has anyone found a good humidifier and do they work in the bedroom any suggestions welcome

  1. ,
I don't know that airflow per se is a factor. I can only say what I use. I use an air purifier in the living room and a Home Medics humidifier. I like the Home Medics humidifier because you can set a humidity level and it will only run when the humidity gets lower than the setting. A humidifier works anywhere you put it. Bedroom, living room, kitchen, etc. I, myself, do not like airflow around me. Any airflow blowing on me makes me cough. The only real airflow we get in our house is from the A/C. Which is a must have here in Central Texas. Hope you find what works for your husband. Take Care and God Bless!

    1. You might also want to think about changing the air filter in your home more frequently, like monthly.

Beyond that, I just want to make sure that you've been in touch with his doctor about the recent decline. Sometimes, a flare-up can take an extended period of time to recover from, or a change of medication or rehab could be necessary. Regardless, a full physical and pulmonary function tests are a good idea.

Please keep us posted on how he's doing. Being a caregiver isn't easy and we are here to support both of you whenever you need us. I hope you're doing okay. -Melissa, team member
