Yes COPD changed my life

I was already retired. @ ages 68- 72 I was in good health. My spouse was Dr with stage 4 cancer and so those years were focus on her treatment. The immunotherapy was a miracle they no longer can detect any cancer. I’m age 76 now. We got her well then at age 72 all kinds of health maladies beset me. Two spinal surgeries, falling and breaking bones twice! Covid, RSV…the last one caused a pneumothorax I was hospitalized and subsequently the follow up revealed I have pulmonary fibrosis and copd. For last 3 years I’ve done all I can to recover but I’m easily fatigued and exertion makes me lightheaded; coughing spells. Ugh. It seemed sudden. When my spouse recovered from the cancer the plan was to travel. Now just traveling to a drs appointment wears me out. We have made plans for a 3 day excursion to a cabin in the woods I’m looking forward to. Being out in nature is blissful.

  1. How frustrating to get your spouse healthy and then become so ill yourself, . I am glad your spouse is cancer-free though and that you have the opportunity to live the rest of your lives together even if it might not be the life you envisioned. I hope the exursion is super relaxing and fun. I would love to hear about it when you return. Gentle hugs. - Lori (Team Member)
