Even though I had watched my mother and grandmother with COPD and was starting to show signs myself, I still got depressed after I was officially diagnosed. It takes time to come to grips and create a new, positive conversation with yourself. Even though I can't do all the things I thought I'd be doing at this age, I am challenging myself to get creative with what I can do and not spend too much time being frustrated with what I cannot do. Create yourself everyday.

Keep in mind, if you were just diagnosed with COPD today, you are no different than yesterday. Now you know why you sometimes you are suddenly out of breath. Learn everything you can about this condition here, on various FB groups and my favorite COPD360. These groups consist of people like you and professionals that can help you get thru the many concerns you may encounter on your journey. //ed

Follow your medication schedule. If you feel thst something just isn't right, contact your doctor. If you are starting an exacerbation, you'll want to take care of it right away! Keep hydrated. Stay active. Exercise! Eat a healthy diet. Always maintain a positive outlook! Remember, you're never alone...there are people here to speak with, who understand what you are going through. Keep on smiling! š
