Gas logs

I have LP gas logs, which means the pilot light is always on. I don't want to cause myself more lung problems, but I like to use the logs when needed. ny auggestions.

  1. Back in the day, when I had such cool things as fireplaces, and before the COPD onset, I would leave the flu open a tick, just enough to allow the carbon monoxide to get sucked up and out of the fireplace space. I don't know if you have an adjustable flu like I did, but maybe you can come up with some ideas to make it work for you.

  2. Hi . Are they vented gas logs? Those are generally safer, though you should still only use them only in a well-ventilated space. You might also want to put a carbon monoxide monitor in the room to warn you if the levels get too high. Have you considered switching to electric logs instead? I know it's not the same, but you get used to it. I have an electric heater in my office that looks like a log-burning fireplace and I love it. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
