Out patient surgery? Zephyr Valve treatment

Have any of you heard of THE ZEPHYR VALVE TREATMENT?....If so has any one of you had this new treatment where they place valves in your collapsing airways that make it possible to breath air in....and also expel all air back out! allowing you to take a DEEP breath once again?...It sounds like a dream...I have Sever COPD and server to moderate emphysema and was just approved for this procedure. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or would you like more information on this Medicare approved procedure? Google it!

  1. Hi. Hi. Welcome to our COPD community and for bringing up this topic for discussion. We have had many discussions about Zephyr Valves over the years, such as this one (https://copd.net/forums/zephyr-valve-treatment-discussion). I actually just wrote an article on this topic where I interviewed a person with severe COPD who had the procedure. It has not been published yet, although I imagine it will soon. She told me that the procedure took less than a half hour and the very next day she said her breathing was so much better. She said she's even able to walk around her house now without oxygen and without getting short of breath. I am glad to hear you were approved for this. And I do hope the procedure works as well for you. Wishing you all the best. John. community moderator.

    1. Hi. again As a follow up question, when will you be getting this done? Just curious. John. community moderator.

      1. I just my referral number today I'm waiting for them to get their paperwork together and then they're going to make me an appointment hopefully real soon ❤️ I'm excited I feel like I'm waiting for Christmas morning 😁 I know I'm not going to be 100%, but a significant improvement will happen I'm sure ❤️

        1. Wonderful to hear. Congratulations. In my brief encounters with people who have had the procedure, I have heard all good things. Good luck. And please do keep us posted how it goes. John. community moderator.
