Zephyr Valve Treatment

This is a new treatment for people with COPD that has brought amazing hope to an otherwise hopeless, suffocating end for it's sufferers. I am in the process of being referred for treatment, just wondering has this subject ever been discussed before.

  1. Hi CMc21797, and welcome! I see you are a new member here, having just joined yesterday! We are glad to see you are already engaging with the community by sharing your current situation with us here!
How exciting is this!? Being referred for evaluation for the endobronchial valve procedure is something to look forward to!
To answer your question - I can provide you with a resounding yes! Several of our community members have shared the fact they have undergone the procedure and have done well.
I thought you might gain some additional insight by reading any or all of the published material we have here on our site which addresses this procedure. I am sharing all with you here, not to overwhelm you but rather, so you have as much reference material as we can provide. Please, read as much (or as little), as you see fit and appropriate for yourself. Here is the link: https://copd.net/clinical/endobronchial-valve-system
Should you have any questions or, want to discuss this further, please let me or any other moderator / team member know. You are always welcome here!

    1. Hi again, silverstars - good morning! Of course you will remain in my/our prayers! For me, what always helps to get me through these challenging health times is my family so, I think you are looking at the correct approach now. Family and the holidays are a special time and always have been! And knowing that after these holidays family is still with us for love, support, and to make our days better, can keep one's attitude where it should be.
I will wish you the very same (a good holiday season!), and remind you that this community is here for you as well.
Please feel free to access our website as often and for as long as you like.
      Warmest regards,

    2. Good afternoon, I had Zephyr Valve Treatment done in Feb. of this year (2024). They implanted 4 valve's in my lower right lung. It has improved my quality of life. I would recommend having this procedure done. I can now walk and do other things without becoming winded. It has been a Blessing in my life, so glad I had procedure done.

  2. I will read the information within the link you provided to its entirety. I want to be overwhelmed. Thank You So Much.

    1. Hi again, CMc21797, and thanks for acknowledging my comment to you. If there is anything further we can assist you with, please let me or any other moderator / team member know.
      Warm regards,

  3. Hello and I am very interested in this as I was told I needed a lung transplant and would be more interested in this. Any suggestions on if this would help? Any help would be appreciated.

    1. Hi again, , and thanks for clarifying this here. With a latex allergy, it's understandable why you didn't have the procedure 5 years ago In London.
Have you had an opportunity to look into this procedure again now, in this country? Is it possible the present composition of the valve will be suitable for you now?

    2. I have new lungs!! Go for it!! Double the work outs!! Especially the upper body!! Following directions is mandatory!! Tell everyone I sent you!! Lol. You’ll get better care!! Or kicked out!!

  4. I am looking into the Zephyr Valve now. I have COPD and have also seen others with it suffocate and it is an awful way to die. I have also found Mucinex timed released pill very helpful , taken once daily. I have seen a great improvement within a week of adding this to my COPD medications. Yes the Zephyr Valve seems to be a breakthrough for COPD patient's and I am living very close to Medical College of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University who specialize in the placement of the Zepher Valve.

    1. Not helpful to tell a group of COPD patients that it is an awful way to die.

    2. Hi . Thankfully, most people with COPD don't die from it even though it can severely impact quality of life in the later stages. Here is a wonderful article from one of our health leaders about that very question: https://copd.net/living/terminal. I hope this helps. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
