COVID Vaccine

Not sure what stage of COPD I have; testing is next month. I currently use an inhaler. I have been going back and forth about getting the vaccine due to having COPD. Has anyone had the vaccine and had any issues with your breathing, afterwards?

  1. I have advanced COPD and have had both shots of COVID. I experienced no differenced in my breathing. Get the vaccines. COVID does severe damage to lungs so protect your lungs and get the vaccine!

    1. Hi. I have severe COPD and had both shots. It did not interfere with my lungs at all. Actually my Oxygen levels were great. Get the shot. Little side effects, nothing severe. No worse than flu achiness.

      1. ,

I am so glad to hear that things went smoothly for you when you got the vaccine, thanks so much for sharing your experience with us!

    2. I am nervous about getting the vaccine also but when I thought about the alternative if I got COVID, the vaccine sounded much better! I get mine tomorrow. 😊

      1. Hi. I see you posted this a few days ago. Just curious" how did you do with the Covid vaccine? know personally the only side effect I felt was a sore arm -- the a strong sense of relief as well. John. Community Moderator.

    3. I was nervous about getting the shots. I have stage 4 COPD. I had both shots of the Phizer, and had a sore arm, a low-grade fever on and off for a couple of days. No big deal at all for me, especially when I considered covid-19.

      1. I don't like "labeling" us with what number stage we're in. We and our illness is more than a number anyways. I dislike even more the archaic and insensitive term "end stage". I know I have severe COPD and that's enough. Even if I am at "End stage" I don't want to hear it. Those are deathbed words. How you feel and what you CAN DO to slow the progress and lessen the symptoms are what I focus on...and it works! Eat and sleep well. Exercise is a MUST. We have to keep moving. I got a stationary recumbent (as I have severe disk disease in my lower back) bike for just under $200 as gyms closed with the pandemic and I didn't go many days for one excuse or another. I really felt the COPD worsen. Now I am on the bike, which also has tension arm bands so I can work upper and lower body, while I watch TV almost daily. My leg muscles help get me from point A to B and I am less winded. I also use my Rollator to walk loops in the corridor apr. 3x's a week. When we do more we feel more confident and symptoms improve. Best $200 I have ever spent. Warm wishes! 😀

      2. , I love what you have written here. I agree that the stage labeling can do more harm than good for some, and I can see why you would feel that way. It sounds like you also work really hard to stay active and keep yourself moving which is SO important and can make all the difference. Let me know what you think! Warmly, Melanie (team member)
