I have stage 4 COPD and use oxygen 24/7. I’m feeling like what’s the use of getting out of bed so I take Xanax and melatonin to sleep away my day. It just seems too hard to still do much.

It makes me sad to hear that you sound like it is time to just give up. I think everyone who is fighting daily against any medical problem feels that way at some point. I suffer from COPD also. There are days I don't want to get out of bed. I wake up with zero energy. Then I think about all the things I will miss. I will miss the sunrise. I will miss watching the hummingbirds at my kitchen window feeding. I will miss my favorite shows on TV. I will miss working on my chess game. I will miss getting ready to move to a better place to live (moving in 3 weeks). I will miss seeing my grandsons, whom I absolutely adore. I will miss exercising, which I never look forward to, but always feel better physically after I am done. I will miss my wife coming home from work and the interaction I have daily with her. My daughters, siblings, grandsons, and friends would be so disappointed if I just gave up. I know it is hard sometimes to keep a positive outlook and to keep fighting. Sometimes it seems like the easiest thing to do is to give up. I have never taken the easy way out and plan to fight until the end. I enjoy living too much to give up. I would hope you would do the same. Please seek some help for your emotional well-being. Whether it be a counselor, a friend, a relative, a pastor, or anyone you can talk to that can help you vent your feelings. Good Luck and God Bless!
