Snack tip helps me, i hope can help others

I wake up many times every night. I started this several weeks ago due to weight loss.

I keep a container next to me in bed with an assortment of snacks. My appetite is finicky a lot. If I wake up I am usually awake for an hour or more b4 falling back asleep to wake up again maybe 2 hours later.

I have a bin and zip lock bags with various breakfast type bars, Ritz Crackers, oatmeal raisin cookies, fruit snack bags, a banana, electrolyte drink, water. After waking up I snack on 1 sometimes 2 or 3 different things. Not too much so I dont get nauseous. Wake up again later, I repeat. After waking in morning usually around 6 or 7 on a good day I take my morning meds which was a tip my Palliative nurse recommended. It takes me about 2 -3 hrs after that to where I can begin to sit up and get ready to get up. But once again I have some snacks. I need to get as many calories as I can and i know this has added at least several hundred more that i wouldn't have been getting.

So find your favs store them next to you in bed and make a positive out of those annoying nightly wakes. Best wishes to all.

I'm gonna get some type of juice drinks to sub for waters next time i shop.

  1. Hi Paul - thanks for sharing this night-time snacking tip with the community. I am so glad to hear that you have found a system that helps you to keep the needed calories coming your way. Snacking during these hours may not be everyone's 'cup of tea', so-to-speak, but it's good to hear this works so well for you. And who knows? Perhaps others in the community will find that this system is something that will be beneficial for them as well.
Keep up the good work, Paul!
    Warm regards,

    1. Maybe THIS will KEEP Your Family OFF Your BACK about EATING!!! Please SHOW Them this POST about Your SNACKING TIPS!!!

      1. Thx . Yes I will. My brother stopped by at 11:30 this morning with half dozen jelly donuts. I had one and said Thx. I'm very empathetic and it saddens me knowing they just want me to get better and do what they hope will help. I'm slowly getting thru to show I eat what I can and whenever I can. Each day varies. My late night snacks last night were a banana, oatmeal cookie, fruit snacks, choc pudding cup all spaced out several hours. And some pedialyte. I know this may not be an option for others but it is helping me which gives me some positive hopes. Have a good day. Fyi, still kind of new so not sure if this was replied directly to you or all. Hopefully both lol.

        2. Hi Paul, and thanks for responding here. As you said, your type of snacking may not be suitable for others. However, if you find it works so well for you, then stick with it. This is especially so if there have not been any other issues with this schedule for yourself. It does sound (from what you've shared here with us), that it is working very well for you.
You have posted this properly and in the right place. The community can see your post (which is good), and so can our community member to whom you directed it, .

      2. thank for sharing your experience with us and I would think it will be very helpful to many. I have to say that for myself snacking while laying down is a no go! Acid reflux issues and the higher possibility of asperation keeps me from even wanting to try. KEEPING the snacks nearby is a great thing though which I do have some in misc places throughout my favorite spots. A little of this and a little of that can make the world of difference. Keeping them healthier then not is the harder part for me. Thanks again for sharing!
