Pain in back/ ribs

Went to PcP yesterdayand they did a pft, EKG, already had blood workup, took oxygen level, and BP. Dr never examined me except to hear my heartbeat, said everything looked good except sugar level and cholesterol was a bit high and to use extra virgin olive oil, nurse came in they set me up for colonoscopy and waiting on call for sleep study. Got up this morning with pain in my back right rib. 2 hours later the pain had increased and migrated through to the front as if I'd been shot with an arrow through my chest. Tried icy hot on it but no help. Never encountered this before, anyone ever have this or know exactly what this is?

  1. There could many reasons for the pain your having. I would definitely encourage you to contact your doctor right away to rule out anything serious. It's always better to be safe and get it checked out.
Please let us know how you make out.

    1. Hi CM27, and thanks for your post. I see my colleague, already responded to your concern. I concur with everything she said and would like to emphasize just how important it is for you to reach out to your physician quickly.
Since your post (and Lyn's) is from about 7 hours ago, I am hopeful you have already contacted your physician.
Please do check back and let us know how this all turns out for you.
We have a genuine concern for your good health!
      Warmly,
      Leon (site moderator COPD.net)

      1. I'm happy to hear the NP is coming to the house. Let us know how that goes and what the outcome is. Thinking about you and hoping you're feeling much better.

      2. Hi again, CM27, and thanks for responding with a further explanation. I understand all you've said. My view, not knowing much about your medical history, is that controlling and managing pain is one thing to handle by oneself.
However, pain, as you've described (...an arrow shot through my chest.), is something else. Sometimes, severe pain, as you've shared here, especially following a procedure, can be indicative of another issue. Like my colleague, , I would still urge you to reach out to someone from your health care team. I see that you are expecting a visit from a nurse practitioner. That is good to hear.
Please do check back and let us know how this all turns out for you.
        Wishing you well,
        Leon (site moderator COPD.net)
