First thing I would do is call my health care provider and talk with them about your problem. I have been using Symbicort for over 7 months and have no side effects. I make sure I rinse and gargle after every use and use it strictly according to the instructions. Symbicort is known to cause low potassium in your system. This or any loss of electrolyte can cause cramping. Low magnesium, potassium, or sodium levels can cause cramping. I do occasionally have cramping, but I think that is due to over doing trying to cut back on sodium intake. I make sure to drink a Gatorade or similar hydrating drink daily, take a daily vitamin (I use Alive Men's plus 50), and also make sure I eat a banana every day with my protein drink breakfast. Itching for me is caused by dry skin due to living in south central Texas and sitting in A/C daily. Hydrating skin lotion takes care of this. Of course, it could entirely be the Symbicort. Everyone reacts differently to any drug being taken, especially if you are not use to it. Diet can also be a factor when dealing with COPD. There is quite a bit of info on this site and elsewhere on the internet for COPD diets. Just simply use the search function at the top of this page or I am sure one of the awesome moderators will point you in the right direction. But please contact your health care provider first and foremost. Good luck and God Bless!
