If you want a copd treatment, it will be in clinical trials.

The term for this is experimental treatments.
I would like to direct you to these examples:
Josh Hardy, a seven-year-old boy who was diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer and developed a life-threatening adenovirus infection after a bone marrow transplant. He was denied access to an experimental antiviral drug called brincidofovir by Chimerix, a biotechnology company that was developing the drug. The company argued that it could not afford to provide the drug to Josh and other compassionate use requests without jeopardizing the clinical trials and the approval process. However, after a public outcry on social media and pressure from politicians and celebrities, the company agreed to make the drug available to Josh and other patients through a special clinical trial. Josh received the drug and recovered from the infection.
