Does anyone else have problems exercising?

COPD and exercise - does anyone have problems with this? I get out of breath putting away groceries, making a bed - not much endurance. I am missing out on a lot of things.

  1. Not just exercising. Taking a shower used to be a non event but now I need help washing my hair. Especially now as I have not been out of the house since start of the Wuhan virus. I had a friend in Australia who told me that he would forgo taking a shower because it was too exhausting. Unfortunately my friend does not have that worry anymore as he passed away. I have had COPD for over fifteen years and one of the first "Guidelines" was DO nOT TRY TO DO EVERYTHING BY YOURSELF : GET HELP" It is absolutely true. Take things at a slower pace and don't let your COPD get you down.Have a great day.

    1. Yes my daughter helps with my shower and washed my hair. I got a seat for the tub and had a hand held sprayer so she can rinse me off easier

  2. Vicki56 One other thing that I can attest to . Sure there are things that one can not do but the greatest thing is we are still alive and for me from first day I have never accepted that COPD can0t be cured. Stay strong.

    1. Most activities make me get out of breath. I know going in that everything takes me longer, so I plan more time. Making my bed, emptying the dishwasher, and vacuuming are really tough. I do them in the morning, when I have more energy. I have cut back on showers, and take more baths. Carrying anything pulls down on my shoulders and cuts off my wind. Bending over is a killer. I have rarely been out of the house since the virus, and I find my strength is decreasing from lack of exercise, so I am using a recumbent stationary bike. Results are not fast, but I don't get crazy with it. I have started using a smaller purse, for the infrequent times I go out.
