Cost

I just got on Medicare and Metigap I retired last timber my doctor has me on fluticasone to take twice a day for maintenance the first time I ordered it I had to pay out $400 which was deductible for 90 days and now I have to pay $90 for 90 days just seems like a lot of money to me what do you think and can you pick up a prescription that would be less expensive

  1. I meant September

    1. You might check for discounts, like on GoodRx.com or google discount for that medication. It might be worth a try.

  2. Thank you for your post. Sorry, you have to pay such high prices for the inhaler that you need. I see you received some good advice from below. My mom uses that with good results. We also have a post you may find helpful with some more tiips that you can try. Here is that article if you are interested (https://copd.net/living/afford-medicine-ideas). Hope this helps. 1. I have WellCare for my Medicare medications. And my inhalers are very much lower than that. My deductible is way low also i dont even think i have one. The highest I pay is $10.00 each for 3 inhalers. I use a neb machine also and 3 month is only $8.00. That one you are on must be a very good one. Have you talked to your doc about a different inhaler. Or a genaric.
You might want to check out WellCare. If you call them they can tell you if all your meds are covered or if not they can tell you what you will pay.

      1. mythoughts here I have Medicare and Wellcare for prescriptions.

      2. medigap with part d

    2. The same thing happened to me , I was on Flovent HFA and it was going to be over $400 so my Dr. changed me to Arnuity Ellipta and that was $267. It’s the deductible of $480 that you have to meet before they will pay. Now after next month I will be paying $45 a month .

      1. I have the best Plan G insurance money can buy and it is expensive. But it guarantees I will never have to pay anything other than medication co-pays and the Part B Deductible. This is written in stone, and in print, on The SS and MediCare sites and in my insurance docs. But now, suddenly, they are trying to force me to pay this $480 Part D deductible, and saying I've always paid it. Nope. I've never paid it, ever, and my docs and Uncle Sam say I don't have to. It's not going to happen. My doctor will find a way around it with a different med, I will buy it from Canada, or I will simply do without it, but I am not now or ever going to pay any Part D deductible, as it was not part of the deal I made. I am not going to allow the totally corrupt US medical and insurance system rip me off like this. Period.
