  1. Hi . My heart goes out to you. That must be a scary feeling. Have you talked to your doctor about your anxiety? There are many things that might help. You doctor could give you a referral to home health care. They will evaluate your home and your needs, and offer help with thing like baths. They can also do light housework if you are unable. The visits are usually covered by insurance with a doctor's order.
You might also qualify for physical therapy to improve your breathing. Your doctor can also prescribe medications to help reduce your anxiety if you feel you need it. COPD changes and so do your needs. Sometimes, you gave to remind your doctors of that, especially if you have been a patient for several years.
I hope this helps and that you get some relief. Know that we are here for you whenever you need us. Gentle hugs. - Lori (Team Member)

  2. Thankyou so much for input all respect to you

    1. Hi. Anxiety is really common with COPD, and even without it, so know you are not alone.

Have you ever used a shower chair? They are affordable and allow you to sit in the shower with less effort getting in and out. Your doctor can even write a prescription for one if you want to try to get it covered under insurance as medical equipment.

You can take your oxygen into the shower with you. People here on the site have shared that keeping the water a little cooler, leaving the bathroom door open, using fans, and putting on a terrycloth robe when you get out can help. The robe makes drying easier and you can sit and catch your breath with the robe on.

You also might want to look into therapy and/or medication for anxiety. Therapy can teach you how to relax your mind and body when you're struggling to breathe or dealing with stress. It takes time and practice, but it can make a difference.

All the best to you. We're here to support you! -Melissa, team member
