COPD emphysema

I have a pluggy runny nose and don't know what to do about it and I can't see my doctor for another month what can I do please help

  1. Hi , and welcome! I see you are a new member here having joined just yesterday, late in the evening. We are glad to see you already engaging with the community through this, your first post.
You may be aware we cannot provide medical advice or diagnostics over the internet (for your own safety), but your concern certainly warrants a reply.
There can be all sorts of medical reasons for a 'pluggy, runny nose'. These can run the range from allergies, to a cold, to any number of different diseases. There are a variety of treatments that can be used to help manage this situation as well. Since you've mentioned that you don't expect to be able to see your doctor for another month, you may want to give some consideration to reaching out for your pharmacist. A well-trained, experienced pharmacist may be able to guide you through this until you are able to see your physician.
    What do you think?

    1. Yes! Totally forgot about masks. I remember my grandmother using them in the hospital when she would have an exacerbation. I'm just so used to seeing the nasal cannula now. Thank you! Hope you are relaxing today. -Melissa, copd.net team

    2. Hi Melissa - I am happy to have been able to help! As you said, it just wasn't immediately available in your thought process the other day - not a big deal, as I see it!
Today (and the holiday weekend), was a good one! Relaxing? What's that???
Hope your weekend was a good one, too!!

  2. Ask your pharmacist about Astepro which is available over the counter. It was prescribed to me as Aselastine by my ENT doctor. It is effective for runny nose whether or not it is due to allergy or pollution.

    1. Hi ddhort, and thanks for sharing the success you're having using this medication.
I would like to remind our community members reading this that it is always a good idea to speak with one's physician prior to starting any type of treatment or medication (prescription or over-the-counter). Keep in mind that, just as COPD affects everyone differently, medications and treatments can also vary considerably from patient to patient.
      Wishing you well,

  3. I have copd and my nose constantly runs I did try astepro no relief at all. Any one else know what to do?

    1. thank you I didn't see your response to this problem. I will definitely talk to my Dr.

    2. Hi again, CM08d6d9 - it's my pleasure - you are very welcome! I am glad you plan to bring this to your doctor's attention. I'll be interested to hear what the physician has to say.
      Good luck!!
