COPD & COVID

My Mum (88yrs old) has had COPD for many years. She has had Covid twice - last time March 2022! 2 weeks ago she had her fifth Covid injection. A week later she has started having breathing problems & palpitations resulting in a severe panic attack & a trip to hospital; where they gave her a complete check up (ECG, Blood Tests, Chest XRay) Nothing presented itself. Has anyone else had a reaction to the Covid booster? If so...how long did symptoms last?

  1. , i'm confident other members of our community will chime in if they have had an experience with the booster shot to share! I'm sorry to hear you aren't feeling well after yours and I would encourage you (if you haven't already!) to speak with your doctor about these changes the next time you see them. They might be able to help offer some insight in to what is going on. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    1. My mom has had all the boosters and.. absolutely nada re: reactions. The flu vaccine this year was painful though. lol. She had such a big knot on her arm I called her dr in a panic.

I received the adenovirus vaccine and both the vax and the booster (theres only one for JnJ, if I want to boost for different variants I will need mRNA) had me personally symptomatic, but only for the first 72hrs for the initial vax and maybe 12 post injection for the second one. I was just feverish and miserable tho.

My mom had mRNA and had no rxn to any of the boosters or the initial vax.

      1. Hi Suzy, and thanks for your post and your question - it's a good one!
My entire family has had both flu shots (every year), and, more recently - we've each had the COVID vaccines (#1 and #2), as well as the COVID booster shots. Everyone had some (expected) pain at the injection site. Only one family member (a son-in-law), experienced a reaction to the all the COVID vaccines except the first one. He had 'cold symptoms' for about 3 days.
Remember that everyone reacts differently to vaccinations so what has happened in my family may differ from what you are experiencing for your Mom.
How is your Mom doing nowadays?
