Are you taking NUCALA?

In Nov of 21 I was diagnosed with Esphinophol(sp) Asthma after 4 days in hospital with a COPD FLARE UP. Started NUCALA in early 22 and have not had a flare up since or used my Rescue Inhaler. I still use Nebulizer treatments as feel needed Medication is very expensive but being a retired veteran I am covered by Tri-Care and pay very little.
The above was detected by blood tests.

  1. , thanks for sharing what treatments you have started that are helpful to you. I am confident other members of our community will chime in if they have had a similar experience with this. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    1. No what is it?I never heard of it

      1. Hi , and thanks for your your post and question - it's a good one! Biologics, like Nucala, are a classification of medications that may be used to treat pulmonary diseases, like asthma and COPD.
I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article (published right here on COPD.net), which focuses on this very topic: https://copd.net/living/talking-biologics. I do hope the information addresses some of your concerns moving forward.
        All the best,

      2. Hi, ! I have never heard of it so I looked it up and saw that it helps to reduce eosinophils (which is common in people with COPD). It sounds very promising if it has allowed you not to have a flare-up or use your rescue inhaler. I am so glad that you have insurance for this and only have to pay very little. I wonder why we haven't heard if this is prescribed more often? Hopefully, you will get some feedback from this and we will hear more. Thank you for sharing! Best, Jackie (Moderator)
