Adjuster on cannula that slides down.

Does anyone have a problem with the slider that is suppose to hold it tight under the chin. I'm finding that most of the cannulas have the tightener that just slide down.

I would like to know if anyone has solved the problem or what have you tried.

  1. Hi Mythoughts, and thanks for your posts.
Throughout the years using and adjusting the nasal cannula 'slides' for patients, I have rarely had an issue with the 'slide' slipping down on its own but, that doesn't mean it's not happening to you! When I did find this to be an issue (in the hospital setting), I would simply use a new cannula and the issue was resolved.
If you find the 'slide' is migrating downwards on its own, you may want to try some 'home-made' fix. I would think a tiny piece of masking tape or something similar placed just under the 'slide' might prevent its movement on its own. Plus, the masking tape (tiny piece), is easy to remove as necessary.
I'm hopeful that other members and/or team members with clinical experience will chime in and share their thoughts here.
    Wishing you well,

    1. I have the exact same problem with all my cannulas! Even new ones. I have to use bobby pins to hold mine in place and 1) I;m afraid it depresses the O2 flow and 2) it doesn't hold it in place anyway. I can't imagine you haven't heard this problem before.

      1. What a great idea! What exactly are they called? I'd like to be able to tell people what to search for. Thank you so much for sharing that fix with us.

      2. Thanks for asking this is Mythought. The name is Charger cable Protectors USB. The one I ordered has 32 in it. I keep a few and then gave some to my doctors office and to an emergency service that took good care of me when I needed it. Oh they also work at the connection of the home care concentrator. Where the oxygen tube attaches to.

    2. I believe it is the brand. I get all my items from a shop in Parker, Colo. And since day one the sliders have always moved down.
I sent a pic and the name of the item to LORgal.

      1. Glad to hear it, Mythoughts - good luck!! Please let us know how this all turns out for you!
        Regards,

    3. I ordered them to see if they would work. I'm happy to say the work great. I have to sleep with my cannulas and would wake up because it had come off. Charger cable protector.
