Written off as crazy by Doctors and ER - Rant

Hi, has anyone else been written off as crazy by their PCP and ER staff?

Over the last two years I've had multiple health issues that resulted in a lot of ER visits, and now that I have COPD, long lungs as well as all sorts of bowels problems, if I show up at the ER, it's just 'Oh, it's him again' and I'm basically sent home with nothing.

My PCP suggested therapy when I explained my bowel issues. The long lungs are hell, and the squeezing of my bowels is painful. These days I can barely eat. My Pulmo won't refer me to a lung clinic because he doesn't think I'm ill enough. Sick of them all.

I'm tired of it, and I'm tired of them. I would just like this to end, and soon. The sooner the better.

  1. , I hear how difficult and frustrating it is when our doctors or those at the hospital don't take us or our symptoms seriously. Contending with COPD and other conditions combined is hard and we all deserve to be given the care we deserve. Is there possibly another doctor that can offer a second opinion for you? Also, while we aren't professional counselors, we the emotional toll COPD can take and are more than happy to share some additional resources with you in a private message, if you would like. All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).

    1. Hi, thanks for the reply. I'm trying to find another Pulmo but it's hard here. I'm dealing with it, but not very well. The lungs are not too bad, exercise wise, but the bowel problems are what are doing me in. I've seen several Doctors, but no-one seems to have an answer. Meanwhile I'm losing weight like it's going out of fashion.
I have an appt. next week to see about LVRS, but they usually have you wait a couple of months and try everything else first. It's time I don't have. Get pulmonary rehabilitation here is very difficult, in fact all of it is difficult. I'm just tired of the whole deal. I'm also getting all the side effects from Formetorol, and I can't use Spiriva because of previous bladder issues. It sucks.
I've also been diagnosed with asthma as well as emphysema, and all the other stuff. All this has happened in the last two years, or rather come to a head in the last two years. I wish I could turn the clock back, I would never have started smoking, but I'm sure everyone on here says that.

    2. , I hear how exhausting this all is but I am sending you positive vibes for a good appointment next week. Hopefully, you will get some solid answers or at least a game plan for what to do next. Please check back in and let us know how it goes! All the best, Sam S. (COPD.net, team member).
