Can I use a wood stove with an oxygen concentrator?

My husband, who has COPD, has recently been put on an Oxygen Concentrator at home. Here in the cold Northeast, we normally supplement our heating in the winter with a wood stove. Any suggestions on if this will be feasible this winter?

  1. Hello cmacdonald51! Thank you for your question. Wood smoke is a known irritant to the lungs and may not be the best choice for your husband. I thought these articles might be of interest to you:

We used to live in the northeast and I know how expensive oil heat can be! I would encourage you to discuss the question with your husband's doctor to also receive her/his opinion on the risk/benefit for your husband's lung health and your financial well-being for the winter.
