What treatment should I be receiving for my COPD?

Hi. I’m not sure what to say... I’m 33 years old and have recently been told that I was diagnosed with COPD 4 years ago, and they had failed to notify me or give me any appointment or medication.

What should my treatment be?

I now cough up a slight bit of blood and a lot of black/brown stuff (mainly in the morning) but it does continue through the day. I can feel every breath and my chest is tight and burns nearly all the time. Could someone tell me what treatment I should be receiving and if there’s anything I can do to help myself? I seem to be getting minimal help from my doctor even with my symptoms getting worse!

  1. Hi Jimmy86, and thanks for your post. I'm sorry to hear you're not getting the information you are looking for from your present physician. Do you think you should look for another, more compassionate physician, to manage your condition with you?

Although we cannot provide medical advice over the internet (for your own safety), I did want to provide you with some information that will help you to learn more about COPD.

I thought you might want to start with this article about the basics of COPD: https://copd.net/basics/.

And next, I thought you might gain some additional insight from this article on COPD treatment: https://copd.net/treatment/.
