  1. Rhoda1952,
I am sure there is a pill for anxiety. I am not sure if there is one that fits all types and causes of anxiety. My feelings are that the least amount of prescription medications I have to take, the better. Sometimes getting to the root of one's anxiety can help alleviate it, or at least deal with it. Have you considered calling your medical team to discuss this? All of us COPD sufferers have a degree of anxiety about our condition and what the future holds for us. There will constantly be an adjustment to your treatment and reasons for concern. It might be as simple as someone to talk to and share your concerns with. Maybe consider counseling for coping with your condition and the anxiety that goes with it. Since I am not a doctor, there is little else to suggest besides contacting your doctor. Take care and God Bless!

    1. Thanks for your information I will take it on board you take care to x

      1. After years of battling crippling anxiety, I was prescribed hydroxyzine 4 times a day. It is non-addictive and is basically an antihistamine but has anti-anxiety properties. With my anxiety now under control, I have scaled back to a once nightly dose. Truly a miracle. Ask your doctor.

        1. Hi again! So, we can't recommend certain medications for your own safety. But in general, it's important to know that when it comes to anxiety medication, each person is different. What works for me might not work for you or you might need a different dose than someone else. It can take a little trial and error to find the right match. So the best thing to do is tell your doctor about how you're struggling and see what they would recommend. Also, your doctor will probably tell you this, but it can take a couple weeks for any side effects to pass and for the medication to start working, so it's helpful to know that in advance and to be patient while you wait to see how you respond.

Have you thought about trying talk therapy? Having a safe place to talk about your frustrations and fears, and learning some practical tips for what to do when you feel anxious, can make a huge difference. I cannot say enough how much good therapy has done in my own life.

My heart goes out to you for the emotions you are going through now that you need more oxygen. I think most people here have felt the same way! Please keep us up to date on what you decide to do and how you're feeling. We're here for you! Melissa, COPD team
